Taking Stock Of The Previous Year

As the year comes to an end I feel it’s important to take stock.  Reflecting on the previous year is a valuable exercise for personal growth, learning, and planning for the future. Here are some key steps and questions to consider as you take stock of the past year.

  • Achievements and Accomplishments:

  • What were your major achievements and accomplishments?

  • Did you reach any personal or professional goals?

  • What are you most proud of from the past year?

  • Challenges and Obstacles:

  • What challenges did you face throughout the year?

  • How did you overcome these challenges, or what did you learn from them?

  • Is there anything you would do differently in handling challenges?

  • Learning and Growth:

  • What new skills or knowledge did you acquire?

  • How did you invest in your personal and professional development?

  • In what areas did you experience the most personal growth?

  • Relationships:

  • How did your relationships evolve over the past year?

  • Were there any important connections you formed or strengthened?

  • Is there anyone you need to reconnect with or resolve conflicts with?

  • Health and Well-being:

  • How did you prioritise your physical and mental health?

  • Did you establish or modify any health-related habits?

  • What changes, if any, do you want to make in the upcoming year?

  • Financial Review:

  • How did your financial situation change throughout the year?

  • Did you meet your financial goals or encounter unexpected expenses?

  • What adjustments can you make for better financial stability?

  • Professional Review:

  • How did your career progress in the past year?

  • What projects or tasks were most impactful in your professional life?

  • Are there any skills or areas you want to focus on for career development?

  • Personal Goals:

  • Did you set and achieve personal goals for the year?

  • Are there any goals you didn't achieve, and if so, why?

  • How can you adjust your approach for more success in the future?

  • Happiness and Fulfilment:

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with your life in the past year?

  • What brought you joy and fulfilment?

  • What changes can you make to increase your overall happiness?

  • Future Planning:

  • Based on your reflections, what are your priorities for the upcoming year?

  • Are there specific goals or resolutions you want to set?

  • What steps can you take to ensure a successful and fulfilling year ahead?

Taking the time to reflect on these aspects can provide valuable insights and help you make informed decisions for the future. It's also a great opportunity to celebrate your successes and acknowledge the areas where you've grown.  In the next blog I’ll give you some thoughts about making big plans for the future.
